Checking in using QR codes is mandatory in NSW stores

Workers are worried they’ll be abused by angry customers after NSW Police told supermarkets they need to monitor Sydney store entrances to encourage the use of QR codes and masks.

A union said it could exacerbate a volatile situation that has already resulted in at least two alleged assaults against supermarket staff in the past week.

Aldi has urgently hired security guards to comply with the new coronavirus directives from police, which were communicated to the bosses of the big supermarket chains on Tuesday.
