India is miles ahead of the US with its ironclad net neutrality rules

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has published its recommendations for upholding net neutrality guidelines (PDF) across the country today, and boy, do they look good – for consumers, that is.

The country has been tussling with the issue of regulating internet service providers’ ability to throttle traffic and create fast lanes for specific sources of content; TRAI has previously sought comments from the public on how to shape its rules. Today, it’s recommended that all ISPs should adhere to the principle of non-discriminatory treatment of content.

That means no blocking or throttling content, and no fast lanes for content sources that offer to pay for the privilege (with an exclusion for content delivery networks).

The death of net neutrality could be the end of Bitcoin

FCC head Ajit Pai has always been the scumbag hiding in plain sight. While his weasel-like nature may have never been in question, this week’s sneak attack on net neutrality put to bed any doubt. After assuming his final form as Satan, Pai effectively killed the internet as we know it while we stuffed our face with dry turkey and store-bought pumpkin pie.

But while we discuss internet fast lanes and paid tiers that prioritize Comcast-owned Hulu over Netflix, we haven’t really even begun to discuss the consequences on a macro-level.

What, for instance, does this mean for cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin?

As Marvin Ammori, lawyer for the advocacy group Fight for the Future told Motherboard:

5 very real scenarios that could lead to a government shutdown

Sometime in the next month, Congress could come to the brink of shutting down the government.

Congress has to pass some sort of spending bill by Dec. 8 to keep the lights on, but they may just kick the can down the road until Christmas.

“I believe the odds are better than 50 percent,” said Steve Bell, a former GOP budget aide now with the Bipartisan Policy Institute.

There are just too many things that could go wrong: a contentious tax debate; intractable policy fights over immigration, health care and spending; and an unpredictable president who, on Tuesday morning, signaled he's not willing to compromise with Democrats. Democratic leaders returned fire by canceling their negotiating visit to the White House at the last minute.

How EU encourages Israel to destroy Palestinian homes

European Union diplomats are once again wringing their hands about Israel’s large-scale expulsions of Palestinians and the demolitions of their homes and schools in the occupied West Bank.

But their professed concern is totally undermined by the EU’s policy of lavishing incentives on Israel to continue these crimes.

On Friday, the EU mission in Jerusalem issued a statement to “deplore the continuing threat of demolitions and seizures of Palestinian structures” in the communities of Ein al-Hilweh, Umm Jamal and Jabal al-Baba, which would leave 400 people homeless.

The EU notes that last month “four other herding communities covering 170 people in the Northern Jordan Valley lost their case at the Israeli high court and two European donor-funded schools in Wadi al-Seeq and al-Muntar are presently under threat of destruction and seizure.”

Parliament members demand EU halt funding for BDS

EDITOR'S NOTE: Those 60 cowards members should be ashamed of themselves!!!

Dozens of members of the European Union’s legislative body called on the EU foreign minister to end all support for the Boycott, Sanctions and Divestment movement and other anti-Zionist organizations, and to use the 28-member state body’s influence to marginalize efforts by the BDS movement and like-minded groups.

On Tuesday, a group of 60 Members of the European Parliament from across the continent urged the EU Foreign Affairs Chief, Federica Mogherini to combat efforts to delegitimize Zionism or the State of Israel, “including incitement to hatred and violence and discriminatory practice of calls for boycotts, divestments and sanctions”.

Martin Armstrong: Government Corruption Is Pervasive And Standard Operating Procedure

COMMENT: I read your post on Trump, Jr. and it does appear obvious that there is no investigation into the whole Maginsky Act and why are Trump Jr.’s lawyers not exposing this more? It seems that corruption only really exists when it always involves government.

ANSWER: Corruption is a huge problem in all governments worldwide. It is the possession of power in the hands of authorities that can be bribed which regularly instigates corruption. The ONLY possible way to prevent this corruption is term limits. Believe it or not, California’s notorious Senator Dianne Feinstein announced that she said she was running for reelection in 2018.

Bali Volcano Eruption 'Imminent' Prompting Mass Evacuations Around Mount Agung and Travel Warnings

Volcanic eruptions on the Indonesian resort island of Bali have prompted officials to cancel flights and move about 24,000 residents out of the way as a thick ash cloud from Mount Agung, thousands of meters high, drifts east and southeast along the archipelago.

Residents were evacuated from 224 points around the island while Lombok International Airport on Pulau Lombok, the island due east of Bali, has closed temporarily, said Ari Ahsan, spokesman for Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali.

Bali volcano: Jetstar and Qantas cancel flights as Mt Agung erupts again

Australian Broadcasting Corporation

The latest eruption is significantly stronger than last Tuesday's eruption, with a cloud of steam and pulverised rock driven at least 1,500 metres above the volcano's 3,000-metre peak.

There have been no new evacuations in Bali and a 6 kilometre exclusion zone around the volcano has not been extended.

Ngurah Rai airport in Denpasar remained open on Saturday night but within two hours of the eruption, Jetstar cancelled or diverted four flights heading to Bali as well as five flights due to depart from the island.

Qantas, Virgin and Dutch airline KLM soon followed Jetstar's lead in cancelling flights.
