Tropical Storm Ophelia to Become Record-Tying 10th Straight Atlantic Hurricane Soon, Then an Intense Post-Tropical Storm off Ireland Next Week

Tropical Storm Ophelia is not a threat to the United States but is expected to become a hurricane in the far eastern Atlantic Ocean by Thursday, potentially brushing parts of the Azores this weekend. From there, Ophelia has an interesting post-tropical future next week near the Irish Coast.

Assuming Ophelia reaches hurricane status with maximum sustained winds of 74 mph or higher, it would be the 10th consecutive Atlantic named storm to become a hurricane.
